Webcams, Circles , Squares and possession ?

First of all, please accept my apologies for the somewhat dubious grammar is some sections of my posting yesterday - too much enthusiasm and not enough brain power.   

Well the latest Most Haunted Live extravaganza is over, and as usual it did not fail to enthral.

To be fair, the early part of the show was pretty much as the other two had been - a pretty good history lesson with "Spirit " support. The show, which centered around tracing the souls associated with the Witch Finder General, Matthew Hopkins, had pretty much gone over similar ground as it were.

The shows' psychic medium, Derek Acorah (pictured left) had picked up on the spirits of several of Hopkins "guests", but a far as Derek was concerned, the "best" was yet to come, but more of that later.

First came a paranormal experiment. Matthew Smith, the programs psychologist, has, over the last few Most Haunted Lives, run several experiments to test the psychic ablilities of the audience on the ground and the viewing public at large

Some of you will recognize the symbols on the left. They are used in various sessions to see how psychic a particular subject is. In the case of last nights experiment, Matthew had secured a card showing one of those symbols in an envelope. Then , as part of this experiment, Matthew tried to "transmit" what card he had secured in the envelope. For a laugh, I asked my kids (who are also Most Haunted addicts - when they are NOT at school -  ) asked if they could give it a go. Our Liam thought it was the wavy lines (as did 60+% of the people who responded), I wasn't so sure , and Laura gave up altogether as she said she couldn't focus on anything. I felt it was the square, and the changed, for some reason to the circle. It was at least an hour before the result was shown - the Circle - Hummmmm. What was even worse, only 10 - 12 % of people replying got that right and, by all accounts, up to 20% of people should have got that result by utter chance. So what does that imply? 

What the kids do like doing is looking at the Most Haunted Live Webcams, just to see if anything "spooky" appears on the screen. And, as has happened before, something a little out of the ordinary did appear on the Graveyard cam whilst Laura was looking. In the top left hand corner came a glowing orb shaped light, with a misty aura lasting approximately 15 to 20 seconds before disappearing.

Was it a ghost?.

I don't know, but we reported it anyway.

The one thing that I always "worry" about is the amount of people who see and hear ghostly happenings on these cams. We have sat here, in front of the computer, looking at the webcams from various places covered by the show - looking at the same things, the same vistas that many other people look at. But they report figures, sounds of people screaming, horses all-sorts. What have we seen (generally) - NOTHING. We have only ever seen anything odd twice - once last night and once, at , if I remember correctly, in the Chapel at Dudley Castle where Liam saw a figure, as bent in prayer, in a supposedly secure, and empty, chapel.

The most frightening thing was the "possession" of Derek not only once, but twice. The first time, after he had been ill, was in the Hotel where Matthew Hopkins had had an office from which he ran the Witch Hunts. This demon had been following Derek around the building, and he knew it. Now Dereks main line of defence, if thats the right way to put it, is a Spirit Guide known as Sam. Sam is Derek's contact in the world of spirit, and it is through Sam that Derek gets much of his information. But this time this evil spirit barged in. He was taken over by a hideous form answering to the name Francis Mills. Not only was this spirit extremely nasty (way to go Yvette for facing this evil down) but the more frightening was that Derek's face seemed to change. His nose, particularly, became hooked and beak like. Members of the crew had to take Derek out of the building and away from the atmosphere for his own safety. And then, as they were getting ready for the next location, the ruined church at Mistly where Hopkins is supposed to be buried, Derek was, once again taken over. This time by some sort of spirit that was struggling to breath (it turned out later that if fact this spirit was being hung). Again they had to take him clear of the site.

When Derek and yvette came back to the studio, it was very apparent that Derek was still not well. You could see the shock in his face when they replayed the recordings of what had happened to him - for he claims to remember nothing of the times he is taken over.

I do like this show, normally. But that was very very disturbing, and these possessions seem to be getting more "extreme".
