So today in the bath, my 4 year old yells, "MOOOOOMMM" I come running.

"What's this?"

(Internal sigh.) "That's your scrotum."

(Brace myself.....here it comes. Think: Do I have to deal with this already?)

"What's it for?"
"What's it do?"
"Why do I get one?"

"You have it because you are a boy. That's just the way it is."

(Please leave it at that. Please.....)

"oh, okay. Did you know that I am as strong as Superman?"

Hehehehe...whilst our boys never asked that exact question, Jake did ask me what "cupid hair" was a couple of years ago.  I had to stop and think before I realized he meant 'pubic' hair.

Good answer, btw.  If they're old enough and inquisitive enough to ask the question, then they're old enough to be given an answer.

When I was 3, my mother was bathing me and my sister. Together (we are 12 months apart in age).  I saw a girl for the first time.  I looked at me, I looked at her.  At me, at her, and then said "Awwwww".  I felt sorry for my sister as she was deprived.

I was only 3!  Cut me a break!

That's funny. Today at LUNCHTIME my son was fascinated with his stuff for the millionth time. "It's like a bag," he said over and over again until I gave him some acknowledgement. (Yes, he was eating lunch in the buff...it's a potty training strategy we use around the house. Not sure if it's working though because it's not teaching him the real-world task of pulling his pants down in time of urgency. 'Nother story.)

Yeah, if I were a boy I know that "stuff" would be hard NOT to notice. I love their innocence though. It's irreplacable.
