It's probably a spam bot from random IPs or something equally annoying/hard to pin down.
This is one of the reasons I always set my articles to "Registered Users Only" for comments.

I wish, wish, wish we wouldn't accept anonymous posts at all, or that they'd give us the option of setting all of our blogs to "registered users only" in one click. I really, really dread going through almost 400 articles one at a time.
It's most certainly not spam, because it is just nonsense. It is one of the exiled morons turned script kiddie, if you ask me. I'm prolly gonna take a small vacation until this current spate of idiocy is over, myself. I need to catch up on my reading anyway.

Well it tisn't me as I've never ever gone anonymous in my posting, however have recently ressurrected an old article belonging to "lostintexas"!
I have, in two years, on a couple of occasions posted to an old article...
that's different though than what's happening here!

This is another one of those things that has been happening and then people feel the need to post about it... Like the "can I delete my account" threads.
Although I agree that some sort of master control (or even a default setting for future articles) to set all of one's articles to "Registered Only", or (my particular want right now) to "Me Only" or "Public" for audience.

I love the admins here to pieces, but I wish they'd see an attack as an attack. This goes beyond mischief, and is frankly a violation of US federal law. Whoever it is is using a bot to disrupt the function of the site.
It's basically a short-bus DDOS, in my opinion, because it makes keeping track of the forums next to impossible and it spams our email with update notifications. You'd think they'd dislike the extra strain, too after paying the money to expand SDs infrastructure. Every hit is just that much less they have for legit traffic.

I did not know that, thanx for the information.
Keeping track of forums has been impossible today.

I keep clicking on articles which I think are new only to find that they are one or more years old.

Me too! It's really annoying too. I think the registered users only thing is a good idea, but there are pros and cons to this. I'm seriously thinking about doing that though.
