You might want to take a look at Dremples. It sounds like just what you're looking for. Link

Gregory,

Do you use G-force?

Soundspectrum's G-Force looks like it has a sidebar that has visualizations but does not indicate if it replaces the wallpaper. Can you confirm? Also, can you confirm (if you've used it) that it has a "bars" visualization?

Coincidentally a DesktopX gadget I'm working on has some of this functionality. Release is a while away, I'm afraid, but here's a screenshot:

Sorry bout the duplicate post, this &*#? forum posting code...I have to remove all filtering software just to post here. No other forum anywhere else that I have ever found requires me to do that, haha.

Okay, now on to my ACTUAL post

Free Winamp's free included Milkdrop visualization plugin has a desktop mode. If your display card and system are zesty enough, I HIGHLY recommend this, as the animations respond to any music you might be playing (or that might be coming through the line-in if you configure it so) and plays BEHIND even glass/transparent widgets like the ClearONE winamp skin, WindowsBlind 5 transparent borders, ObjectDock icons/backgrounds, and DesktopX glass/aero widgets.

My third monitor/second computer is dedicated to music playback, widgets, chatting, etc. and always has this visualization playing in the background. It is really quite amazing.

Zubaz,

I have used G-Force for a long time. The "bar" you see can be placed top, bottom, left or right. The visualization isn't "bars" like the author of this post wanted but much better. It does not replace the wallpaper. You also have (I think) thirty days to try. Do it! You will be amazed! It also contains the best screensaver I've ever seen. It also slowly "visualizes" when no music is playing.
