Lifes so .........

Life is so ......... Ordinary

  I am a jealous man.

I am so jealous of all those bloggers' who can make such good reading out of "life in general".

Me, I just see life as ordinary.

Nothing special.

  Boring.

In the last few weeks, now that Laura is out of hospital, and although not quite back to normal, at least she is well on the way to recovery. But in that time life at Chez Smudger has become somewhat mundane, somewhat ordinary.

The only highlight in that few weeks was last weekend - when, for the first time in a very very long time, myself and Cathy went away overnight for Cathys' birthday.

With the Kids doing "sleepovers", and having to have cancelled the last night away because of the weather, we decided to go for something a little "posh"

Washingborough Hall, near to Lincoln, was absolutely beautiful.

A small hotel based in a Georgian Mansion, top class accommodation and food to die for. Just what the doctor ordered.

The first I heard of this hotel was on a radio competition, with the top prize being a two night stay, in a room with a four poster bed, all expenses paid. And I thought as I listened - "that sounds nice".

So, for Cathys' birthday, I thought I would enquire whether there were any rooms available.

When the nice man answered the phone, explained the room rate and the like, I thought "what the hell - it doesn't happen all that often" so I booked a room. In the general "chit chat" I explained that the night we were booking was to celebrate Cathy's birthday (keeping the actual age quite - a gentleman just doesn't reveal a ladies age does he -  ).

There was a short pause - and then the very very nice man asked if we would like to be upgraded to the room with a four poster bed - "as a gesture to the lady for her birthday".

Would we.

So when we got there, and booked in. We checked out the room. It was a proper four poster. Elegant furniture. The on-suite bathroom must have been as big as our own bedroom.

The whole thing was fabulous.

A good nights stay, and then a few hours wondering round Lincoln - the whole thing was completely brilliant.

Mind you - as soon as we got back, picked up the kids, life soon went back to normal .

Liam bickering with Laura. Laura bickering with Liam.

Oh well - at least we had a night away

God Bless

Dave

I stayed in a posh hotel in Lincoln, not as posh as yours but quite nice. We even had a continental breakfast instead of the usual banger and eggs. When we were in LIncoln the weather was actually nice. I'm American. We lived in England for ten months and then came back for six weeks the following summer. That's when we visited LIncoln.

Many Thanks for your kind comments.

To Sherye: I'm actually biased as regards Lincoln - even though I haven't lived there for many years, it is the place I was born (as was my Dad) - so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

To New Age Nomad - many thnaks for the comment. You have cheered me up. I'm nothing special, just a "ordinary Joe", and that there are many people out there who are more erudite than I , but I will keep trying
