So what brought you to Joeuser.com?

Just curious how did you fellow JU users end up here. I found this place by mean coincidence. I use to hang out at this other site that I found where they had a section with tech news and sorts to post about. I found it entertaining to chat without using a chat program (good when you at work and can't install anything on the PC) and being able to express myself about topics I liked. I did how ever ended up leaving cause one of the users who was also a moderator began to have strong disagreements with me and we would argue a lot. Sure, not a problem, happens here all the time, but he abused his powers by deleting my post just for the fun of it and that was unfair. So I left.

I eventually came across Wincustomize and fell in love with all their skins and software. And as I browsed thru the forums I learned more and more about Stardocks programs everyday. I began to get interest in making skins, learning to use PhotoShop and Paint Shop and changing my PC to my own style; something I'm big on.

Then one day I saw someone mention Joeuser.com. I was curious, I was unaware that some of JU's articles would also end up on WC. I decided to check it out and since then I have been a member of this great site. I spend a lot of time on here when I'm online, I'm a chatter box, a motormouth, so what better place for someone like me to be at.

So tell me, how did you guys and gals find your way to this great site? Does everyone use Wincustomize.com here or Stardock.com, or did you get here via a friend or a google search or just because you just like blogging? I wanna know.

I was surfing the web and looking for something to do, I stumbled into joe land by accident, and here I am.

completely accidental. I knew next to nothing about computers, or blogging. Luckily I landed in the perfect spot the first time. Nothing else compares.

Im here because Marcie found this site a while back somehow. She eventually started her own blog and stuff. I soon followed, but I dont post nearly as much as she did. Because of disagreements and the like with the admins on here, she is now posting elsewhere - Link

Hope you didn't hurt yourself in the process.

That's you in the pic with her I imagine, right? Nice to meet both of you in picture. As Forest Gump puts it "it happens, shit".

We might have to add an Emergency category, to many accidents while finding this place.

I was brought here by a pack of rabid wolverines who enslave me and force me to produce propaganda in order to survive. It's a miserable life. Miserable, I tells ya. So much so that I even envy the relatively luxurious life of the Oompa Loompa.

At least they let you use the internet.

I googled "free blog sites" or something like that and hit "im feeling lucky."

The rest, as they say, is history.

I never really knew what blogging was till I came here. I heard the word so many times on TV and online and was completely ignorant to it.

We have a serious problem joeuser.com doesn't even show up on gooles first page of "free blog sites" search. Something must be done to make it the top request and knock that other site off of the "I'm feeling lucky" button.

That must be so cool. Does Stardock have any other offices? I like computers and would be cool to work with stardock, though I don;t think I have any skills that could be useful in Stardock, but you never know.

Random luck.

Actually the woman who lived in our house before us recommended the site. Turned out we lived in many of the same places, and some of those at the same time! How weird is that? Then we end up buying our house from them? Freaky.

Anyway, off topic. She mentioned it once and that did it. As far as I know she doesn't blog here....but what do I know? Of course I didn't remember the name specifically....but I played around with diff versions of what I remembered.

I was also for looking for a blogsite to satisfy my writing craving...tried blogspot first, but then saw that joeuser allowed for more interaction with other members. I really thought that was cool.

I went to a site off of Langalist (a link) that displayed the headlines of the latest tech news.  One of them was joeuser.  I clicked and started reading Brad's blogs.  Then one day, a poster, who does not seem to be posting any longer, restricted his article to registered users, so I registered.  And the rest is history.

I used to be a Stardock fan, but now that I'm entirely a Mac user, I come to see the opinions of everybody else on certain subjects. I don't visit as much simply 'cause I don't want to spend all my time debating politics, computers, and religion as I used to.

At the height of my condition, when I was at my worst, doing nothing but hanging around the internet, my brother said, "Hey, You should start a blog"... so I thought.. Hey.. why not!

So, not knowing much about blogs, I (like LW) Yahoo'd "Free Blogs" and... (again, like LW) JoeUser was the first hit that came up...

I wrote a "hi, this is me" article, then followed that up with a couple of disaster satires... someone (I think Dharma) responded to one with, "I'm so glad you're blogging here now"... I so was I. :~D

I tried googling for free blogs, found a few and then realized this was the only site where there's a great deal of communication between bloggers and stayed.

I've got a couple of other blogs where I post stuff I'd never share..

I was just minding my own business surfing the web when some jerk pulled their IP out in front of me and I had to make a hard left into a side server to avoid them and wound up here.

my friend at school had one and he showed it to me. I liked his blog and the other posters, so I made one for myself.

near the end of 2003, google radically revised its pagerank algorithm. by february 2004, several of my clients' sites seemed to have suddenly dropped off the web even though they'd consistently shown up on the first results page (generally among the first five hits) of any search for the type of products they made or sold.

by some amazing coincidence, google also began aggressively promoting adwords sales at the same time. even more amazingly, it seemed to me those who paid for adword hits seemed to have replaced my client.

couple months later--after everyone caved--i was still fulminating about google's commitment to doing good vs its unregulated power (incredible power actually) to do better for those willing to kick em down with a few bucks, when i did a search to see whether anyone was making any noise about the situation.

first hit led me to an article by brad wardell at joeuser.com in which he said pretty much everything wbout which i'd been ranting for a while.

i remember thinking 'jeez. it aint often i run across people who see stuff the way i do.'
