red primer pencil

Sometimes I miss the child I once was,
unaware, lost in my own make-believe world.
Don't knock me out,
don't force me to see what's really going on.
I wish for Monopoly money to wave around,
rich because I have Boardwalk and Park.
My work is a fistful of red primer pencil,
nose to the line, trying to keep it even.
My love is gentle kisses, blushing glances,
and furtive handholding.
My comfort is home, a hug,
and a wave of longing for something that's right there.
I want my innocence back.
unaware, lost in my own make-believe world.

I wish they would fix the edit button, or maybe I should slow down typing!
Made me stop and reflect on things for a while, which is always a good thing, thanks
