I have my watch list.  But because the "delete all" does not work, it is way old.  SO I have things on it from a month ago.  It is tedious to delete each one that no one is responding to any longer.  Yet, it does have its advantages.

Recently (actually over a month ago), Gideon blogged about the death of a fellow volunteer fire fighter.  His blog was very reverant and respectful and heartfelt.  I noted it, commented on it and put it on my watch list.

Then just this week, a daughter of the fallen firefighter thanked him for his blog.  And now another has.  If I had kept my watch list up to date, I would never have seen either one.  But I was fortunate to see a couple of great ladies thanking a great man for a tribute to their father.

And it is humbling.  We all blog about many things, and fight and snap and snarl.  But every once in awhile, someone writes a great one, and is noticed.  Gideon's is that case.  I am priveledged to have read it and commented on it and even more so to have read the comments from the daughters.

Sometimes a blog is not a blog.  It is more than that. And Gideon's is much more than that.  Thank you Gideon for sharing, and thank you Annette and Brenda for your father and his sacrafice.  We all lost a great man, you lost a father.  And we all honor him for his sacrafice, and your loss.

God Bless you both.

Nice of you to point this out.

Yes, it's so easy to write or say things that can hurt people, it's not more difficult to write or say things that'll get people to be touched but I guess we dont always think about it.

Thank you all for reading Gideon's Tribute.  My watch list still has it on, so now the youngest daughter has spoken with thanks.  I am sure that Gideon is pleased and I am humbled by their thanks.  But having read Gideon for so long, I am not surprised.  He is passionate and true.  He is in many ways a simple man that does not require deep analysis.

And he does write some superb articles, this being the best.  Thank all of you who I at least helped to read it.  That was my purpose.
