Can someone kindly explain this dream?

Thanks!

My imagination is running wild lately as you can see. Nothing beats the dreams I'm having though. They're really strange and although it's well known that dreams are only symbols to me it doesnt make any sense sometimes. And dreams that come back are even worse coz it means you didnt understand the first time so here you have it again, until you get the message.

I dont know why but it's the second time I dream of “scary” dogs running under the sea. Thanks Freud.

The first time I dreamt of that was last year. I dreamt that I was on a verandah overlooking the sea. And when I looked down to the crystal clear water I saw a group of dobermans literally running under water as easily as if they were running on solid ground, it seemed to me they were chasing something.

And last night I dreamt I was swimming in the ocean with my Dad and when I looked down in the deep water I saw this enormous dog with his feet planted on the bottom of the sea, looking up at me angrily, growling. In my mind it was the Bakersville dog! A policeman that happened to be there (yeah I know dreams are weird!) wanted to shoot it but my Dad said no, and somehow he calmed the dog. It went away and we went back to our swimming. Like I said weird…

On both dreams I'm as surprised as I would be in the awake life and I also get very nervous. But everyone else around seems to find it normal.

What does it mean??

Dogs mean fidelity or friendship right? But this dogs don’t look like companions, they look dangerous, evil. Maybe I’m surrounded by untrue friends? :(

I dont know, can someone enlight me on this?

According to dreammoods.com, this is what the two major elements of your dream mean. I couldn't find any referenece to dogs underwater, though. You might have to research a bit more to find out if there is an interpretation, but I hope the following helps:

Underwater
To dream that you are underwater, suggests that you are feeling overcome with emotions and are in need of greater control in your life. You may be in over your head regarding some situation.

To dream that you are breathing underwater, represents a retreat back into the womb. You want to return to a state where you were dependent and free from responsibilities. Perhaps you are feeling helpless, unable to fulfill your own needs and caring for yourself. Alternatively, you may be submerged in your emotions.

Dog
To see a dog in your dream, indicate a skill that you have ignored or forgotten, but needs to be activated. Alternatively, dogs may symbolize intuition, loyalty, generosity, protection, and fidelity. Your own values and intentions will enable you to go forward in the world and succeed. If the dog is vicious and/or growling, then it signifies some inner conflict within yourself. It may indicate betrayal and untrustworthiness. If the dog is dead or dying, then it indicates a loss of a good friend. Alternatively, it represents a deterioration of your instincts. Also consider common notions associated with the word dog, such as loyalty ("man's best friend") and to be "treated like a dog".

To see a happily barking dog in your dream, symbolizes pleasures and much social activity. If the dog is barking ferociously, then it represents your habit of unnecessary barking at people and the situations around you. It could also mean unfriendly companions. To dream that a dog bites your on the leg, suggests that you have lost your ability to balance aspects of your life. You may be hesitant in approaching a new situation or have no desire to move forward with your goals.

To dream that you are buying a dog, indicates your tendency to buy your friends or buy compliments/favors. Alternatively, it suggest a need for you to find companionship.

To dream that you are dressing up your dog, signifies your attempts to cover up your own character flaws and habits.**See The Dream Bank: "The Bunny Dog" & "Dogs In The Bathroom"

Thanks Maso! The underwater theme seems like it cannot be combined with the dog theme. Because it isnt me underwater it's a third party, here a dog or a group of dogs.

The dogs are threatening though which equals according to what you've found betrayal and untrustworthiness. But who is untrustworthy? Is it me? Or someone I consider my friend? I like to think I'm a good friend, so unfortunately for me seems like someone is gonna backstab me again. As if I didnt get enough of those...

I'm gonna try and google "dog underwater in dreams", lol!

Sometimes I think that dreams mean something but other times (most of the time, I think . . . hope . . . pray . . . 'cuz man, my dreams are weird!) I think that it's just random firing of synapses.

For years as i was growing up I would have a dream every month or so that I would see my sister playing in a field of daisies, then suddenly she would be dead and lying in a coffin. Then I would be tied to a conveyor belt, heading for a big gear, then I would be crushed by the gear, and I can still remember the crushing feeling. then I'd be in the coffin and two old men would be standing over me, talking, but i couldn't make out what they were saying, and then they'd close the coffin on me and I'd be screaming, "No! Don't do it!!!!" Then I'd wake up.

For years I thought there was something there, but I never did find out anything else.

So that's my weird dream, and it meant nothing. So maybe my advice is, don't worry. or something like that.

I like DynaMaso's explanation.  But I would take a slightly different tack on this.  Of course your father protecting you is easy, and also his saving of the dog.  But dogs represent faithful companions.  And that is what these do.  The snarling dog represents a bad relationship, and your father is helping you get over it.  The water is a protective barrier for you, much like what Mason said, but instead of going back to the womb, it is just protecting you from hurt again.

Of course my explanation may be all wet itself.  After all, I cant figure out half my dreams either!
