I've got a hot date with TWO guys tonight

I even took a shower & I'm putting on some real clothes for the occasion (I think I've been wearing the same sweats for two days now).

Yep, my husband is taking my son & I out tonight to catch Ice Age 2.

I hope we won't have to ask the theater staff to turn down the volume this time though. We had to do that at Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. I listened as the sound was just barely perceptibly lowered just enough for me to notice. I'm sure no one else noticed the slight sound decrease unless they were listening for it.

I'm very sensitive to noise. I swear sometimes they think the audience is so deaf that they crank up the volume past the threshold of human hearing. Then they MAKE us deaf.

The last movie we saw in the theatre was Curious George. We totally adored that movie. It was so clean and wholesome, enjoyable for kids & adults alike. John & I found it to be very much a reflection of what it's like to be raising a toddler for the first time. We stayed through the credits, and found we had the whole place to ourselves since everyone else in the audience walked out as soon as the credits started rolling. We played "tag" with Michael through the aisles and seating levels. Then John took him up to the screen to "catch" the monkey pictures on the credits as they rolled up and flew away. It was so cute.

I know we'll have a lot more limitations when our second child is born. A LOT more limitations. We won't be able to run around and do unconventional things for quite some time.

John said we might even have to start getting babysitters occasionally. Hmm.... What a concept...

AHA!  What is this?  The Day before April Fools day, so we got to write steamy headlines for our article day?

have a great time.  Love the title in case you did not notice.

you should try the soft foam ear plugs for the movies if it is too loud ... I use them when I am on some of the sites I work at and if the noise isn't too bad or I want to hear more I cut them in half

Things didn't really change that much for us with our second. I was breastfeeding, and we took him wherever we went...the movies, shopping, camping out, etc. It won't take long for your family to get into a new routine and be able to get out and do things with the baby. (Hehe, I'm pregnant with our THIRD right now!)

We're going to go see Ice Age 2 tonight, too. I'm really looking forward to it. The first one was great. I haven't seen Curious George yet, but it looks adorable.

Have fun!

PS - LOUD is part of the whole movie experience!!

Have fun at the show!

I just rented Ice Age for my youngest this week, he liked it.  I think I liked it better though..hah.

Babysitters are GOOD things.....now if only I could find one.

have fun and remember family time paves the way for your child to make sure he is family time man when he gets married.

Thanks for the reminder about Ice Age 2. If we don't have anything else going tomorrow, that's what we're down for after dinner, I think. It's my weekend with the kids.

Yeah, I thought about that later on...this movie's volume was just right though. It's the occasional theater that will totally blow my ear drums out.

That's reassuring. Thanks!

Congratulations! So, it's you, Jill, (is there someone else too?) myself, and also a friend of mine who doesn't blog here anymore. Are we all due in autumn time? I told a non-JU friend about how fertile JoeUser is, and she swore she'd stay away. hehe

Yeah, I've gotta say that the original Ice Age was just really...I dunno...ICY. Not much action apart from the short ice slide scene. My son would repeately laugh out loud at the squirrel chasing the acorn though. But the sequel. Wow. It was really entertaining & well done. It's one we might add to our collection, and I'm pretty choosey about what comes into our home

Amen to that Yep, we're definitely a cohesive family. My husband is totally a family man, so if nothing else comes good of our wacky life, our son et al will most likely grow up to be family-oriented people too.

I'm sure you'll love it. Enjoy your weekend with the kids!

Good thing to point out. too many people don't teach family importance.

And you can still do a ton of stuff with two kids. There are two of you, right? One each! My concern would be the people who have 5 under the age of 6. That's two per person and one extra and that's just scary.

I sit with my fingers in my ears sometimes! I hate the really loud parts and I've just gotten used to avoiding the speakers (don't sit right next to them) and not eating greasy popcorn (so I can put my fingers in my ears!)

Going to the movies for us, a family of five, was a bit expensive for our budget. Instead we used to do Friday Family Nights. We'd rent a movie or two, get some pizza (usually homemade) and popcorn and enjoy the evening. The kids got so they enjoyed those nights and they would have turns picking out the movies. Of course after, we'd rate by commending or razzing who ever picked out the movie according to how it went over.

It got to the point we'd groan whenever Brian would pick out a movie. The stupid funny movies were just too much to take. But we survived. It was alot of fun actually.
