My Baby Boy has a "Wiggle Tooth"

My kindergartner, Ryan, got his first loose tooth this morning.  Just as I was seeing his brother off to school he came up and said "Mommy, I have a wiggle tooth".  When he smiled I could see one of his front bottom teeth jutting forward in an unnatural position.  He was beaming!

His brother was good about letting me give his teeth a little tug when they wouldn't come out on their own.  Knowing this guy, he will probably yank them himself.  I think the tooth fairy will be happy that he sleeps on the bottom bunk ;)  Hadn't thought what will happen the next time Alex loses a tooth and the fairy has to visit the top bunk.

So Ry is excited.  He is losing his first tooth.  They grow up so fast!

Oh, I remember when mine had loose teeth!  Jake lost his upper front tooth right before school pictures and I told him to smile really big so's the gap would be seen in the picture.  The photographer had a different idea, and the photo came home showing Jake with his mough closed and the gap hidden.  Apparently the photographer told Jake that he was sure his parents wouldn't want to see that.  I did, though...I wanted a photo of Jake and his gappy smile so that I could remember him at that age and at that time when his tooth fell out.  So, I took one myself and we framed that instead.

Shea always yanked hers out herself.  Once she tied a piece of yarn to the swing set, tied the other end around her tooth, and sat herself down on the ground with a jump.  The tooth came out, but she bled all over the front of her shirt and scared her little brothers half to death!

What's the going rate for a baby tooth these days?  We used to leave two or three dollar coins under their pillows.....when i was a kid, we got 10p (that's about a quarter).

What's the going rate for a baby tooth these days? We used to leave two or three dollar coins under their pillows.....when i was a kid, we got 10p (that's about a quarter).


Our tooth fairy leaves 2 gold coin dollars. I try to keep the kids from talking to the neighbors because some of them leave...get ready for this....$20/tooth! I'd yank all my teeth out if the tooth fairy did that!!

I used to get a quarter too.

Hahaha. We have to go to the top bunk. I have Xavier put his tooth in an envelope and he puts in under his pillow. I have to wait until he is VERY asleep, and climb up the ladder and then root around under his pillow and find that envelope.

I replace it with another envelope that looks the same (with the money in it) that has glitter fingerprints on it. Then CAREFULLY climb down. Hahhaa.

Congrats to little Ryan! My Orian still doesn't have any loose ones yet, but he checks often!

PS - Xavier usually gets a dollar bill or four quarters. I can't guarantee that I'd have $20 to spare every time he lost a tooth! Hahhahahaha.

i remember that when we were kids, my mom told us we wiggled so much that we should put our teeth on the dresser so if we rolled over in our sleep we wouldn't squish the tooth fairy.......and we got a quarter.....

My sister was a heavy sleeper and we used to paint her fingers and toes while she was sleeping and then tell her that Tinkerbell came to visit.

Alex's pillow is at the opposite end of where the ladder is. I think the tooth fairy might have to use a chair

We have to go to the top bunk.


We bought a candle holder from Partylight called Ariana. Ariana is a fairy looking woman holding out her hand. We put the tooth in the hand and light the candle. In the morning the tooth is gone and a dollar is in the candle holder.

We have a bunkbed type too and Dady ain't climbing no laddder.
