shakedown

tick. tick. tick.

I got a phone call this morning (which is a big enough deal, considering less than 5 people actually have my phone number) stating that there's big stuff going on at work. Apparently the 2 new training classes that were to begin today were all contacted, stating that their hiring will be postponed. Several supervisors were let go, and a lot of reps are being fired today as well, when they come back into work.

I hope I'm not one of them.

Our company, which services a larger US company, was bought out by a European one. Since then, a lot of things have changed. Now, I bitch and moan about the job, but if I have to go, I'd rather do it on my own terms. I've taken a lot of time off work,

Only time is going to tell.

Nicky,
I hope it all works out. It is always a crazy atmosphere when new owners come in. I wish you the best of luck.

Eek. I hope you make it through (if that's what you want). That's gotta be nerve-wracking.

The hammer came down, but I'm still there. (For now.) They let go mostly upper management and some consultants who would have gotten the boot at some point, anyway. Throughout the day, they kept bringing in clusters of teams to advise of the 'right-sizing'. It's a shame, because some good people were shown the door, and it's certainly brought morale down. People are still worried, and I'm sure that there's going to be a lot of scrambling to find better jobs.

Sorry I missed this earlier. I'll keep my fingers crossed that any shakedowns come on your terms!

Wow Nicky, I'm glad you're still there too! Having been through something like that where our unit became extinct, I know what you're going through. I hope when all the dust is settled you will be alright.

BTW - happy birthday! And go see your toastings on my blog!

Still there. We've been assured that our jobs are in no way affected by the re-shifting.

Thanks all!
