Room At The Inn

I am on my way to Florida from Wisconsin. I am currently just North of Indianapolis and as I pulled into the truckstop the Comfort Inn across the street looked very appealing. I decided to get a room for the night and get some civilized rest. While I normally don't mind sleeping the the truck, it has a very roomy and comfortable sleeper, sometimes I just want to get out of the truck for a little while. I could have just waited until I got home on Tuesday afternoon, but the idea of a comfortable room just sounded too good to pass up.

As soon as I checked in I hit the shower which felt wonderful knowing I had it all to myself and didn't need to rush because several other drivers were waiting for their turn to de-hog themselves. I am now sitting in the lounge drinking a few after dinner brews before going back to my room to chill for the night.

I have a stop in Greenville, SC and another in a small town in Georgia, and my final stop is in South Florida for Tuesday morning. From there I'll cruise up to the house for 3 or 4 days before heading back out again. I'm looking forward to spending some time at home resting. I've been out for almost a month and am getting tired. I've been feeling it the past few days and know it's time to shut down and rest a while. I really enjoy what I do but it does wear you down after a while and you need to just relax and rest.

Have a good layover!  Guess you were not too far from me if you were in Indy headed to Greenville.  Just west of yonder.

I enjoyed it. A nice big king size bed, HBO, an excellent dinner, and a few brews. I slept in this morning (for me anyway, up at 7), had some coffee and a danish, then finally checked out after watching the local news.

Am sitting at a truckstop just outside of Greenville now, going to get some rest before putting off these stops tomorrow and then running to Florida for Tuesday morning.

Thanks folks. I am sitting at the state line between GA and FL. Still almost 6 hours from my final stop in Okeechobee. I am taking a break here for an hour or so to let rush hour traffic die down and then I'll slide on down there.

I hit several major slow downs due to road construction, accidents, and accidents in construction zones, so am running behind the schedule I had set for myself. Fortunately, I always build in some extra "stuff happens" time when I plan my trips.

I'm looking forward to getting home tomorrow afternoon and taking it easy for a few days.
