Carol Decker can’t get over her ex-boyfriend in the mournful ballad "I Will Be With You."

A heavy-hearted guitar opens the single, setting a regretful tone. In the first verse, she often thinks of him ringing the doorbell of her home. He would envelop in her arms and say that he has accepted her apology. On the radio, she hears their song which reminds her of their romance. She didn't think they would ever break up. She wishes she could reach him. But she knows it's impossible. Although he may live a county away, it's like another continent.
"I have this fantasy /You come back and you forgive me /Oh I'm so sorry now /I hear this melody /Our tryst in rhapsody /And I am listening /I never thought I'd see the day when you and me /We'd be so far apart /And I miss you so much now /But I know there's no way back to yesterday."

In the chorus, she says she he will stay her with, even though he's gone. He will be one true love that will never be matched. As long as he doesn't return, it will be safe to love to love him.
"I will be with you /You're here in my heart /But if you never come back again /We'll never be far apart /I miss you so much/
Wherever you are /But if you never come back again /We'll never be far apart."

In the second verse, she envisions them meeting up for coffee one afternoon. There, they will talk and recall their favorite memories together. She tells no one of her constant reveries. It’s what keeps her sane. She says they gave up and didn't fight for their relationship. It eats at her that was the only shot they had to make things right.
"Here in my deepest dream /Running through another scene /I win your love again /And no, it doesn't bother me /The time I spend in imagery /Well it's how I live /You see, I don't believe that we tried/Everything before our love died /And I just can't forget/Oh, is the one chance all we get."

The chorus is sung again.

Decker "oh's"over a synth.

In the third verse, she says prefers not to have the memories. It's torture and a reminder that her life was better.
"Now I have such memories/But I don't like to resurrect them/Oh you know they hurt me so much now/And I know there's no way you'll be coming home."

The chorus is sung twice to end the single.

Decker started a fight over something petty. During the relationship, every little thing he did bothered her. Except that fight turned out to be the last. He told her they wouldn’t work. She apologized profusely, saying she didn't mean it. However, he said they were over. Since then, she’s been at home, thinking of what might have been.

Decker's vocals are hardy yet fragile. She has a tremendous amount of volume to her voice also, which she relies on to show her disappointment. It's imperfect, though. It unintentionally sends the ballad not only over-the-top but builds a ladder to a new top and makes a new civilization.

The music arrangement dates it as a 80s song. Power chords are everywhere. The synths have a spotlight. At times, it's a bit too much and forced.

"I Will Be With You," despite its flaws, is a cheesy romp.
