You know, I'd like to say that I know everything... but I don't. Some of the questions that I will list aren't really things that I have an answer to, because I'm either not experienced enough, am not that concerned about (enough to call a help line) or really serious about, but have wondered about... Here goes:

  • At what age can you allow your kid to be home alone at? For instance, my girl is six. There is a store directly across from my house. She could see it if she looks out the window. Is six too young to leave alone (while she's watching a movie, say) so that I can run across to get a litre of milk?


  • Is 33 too old to have a crush on somebody?


  • Is it really acceptable to throw out containers of food from the fridge that have gone moldy? Not just food, but the containers as well?


  • Is feeding your kid peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every single schoolday all right? (she doesn't want any other kind of sandwich)?


  • Is putting the occasional video game token into parking meters instead of a quarter really fraud in your eyes?


  • How much is too much in regards to pint consumption, in one evening?


  • Is there an awful lot of hyphens lately, on Joeuser?

1) My parents started leaving me alone around the age of seven, but they hadn't left me alone for more than a couple of hours until I was twelve
2) No, it's not, you can have a crush on someone at 60, 70 or 100, if you're still capable of having a crush that late in your life, you're a truly wonderful person
3) I don't know if it's acceptable, but I do it all the time
4) There was a point in time when I'd only eat Kraft cheese slices all the time, I don't think there's anything wrong with it in the short run
5) Not in my eyes, though I never used tokens, being the honest person that I am
6) No idea, seeing that I'm a non-drinker :)

1.) i'm not a parent, so this is a toughy. my non-parental take on it is that I would make every effort to make sure that I never left my kid under the age of about 14 at home alone. (never is such a curious word)... my reason being that I could never forgive myself if something happened to my kid in those 5 minutes that I wasn't there. My sister runs a daycare and watches 12 kids everyday. There's no way she can 'be there' at all times, which is in sharp contrast to what I just suggested. Sounds like I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

2.) 33 is definitely not too old to have a crush... Mack summed this one up perfectly

3.) If you're a chronic recycler, then I'd say dump out the food and do the right thing with the container. I'm one of 'those' people, so i'll buckle down and empty that 2 week old milk out and rinse out the container. But if you're not a recycler, then... why sweat it? my logic's flawed huh?

4.) feeding the kid the same food everyday prob'ly isn't gonna have longterm affects. I'm gonna have to make a prediction that she'll eventually grow out of it. I dated a woman once that used to let her daughter eat ice cream, popcorn, or even potato chips for dinner sometimes... she said "choose your battles"... i say she was just too lazy too teach her daughter discipline... maybe that's why she's my 'ex'... hehehe

5.) Video game tokens in place of money? that's one for each individual to come to terms with I think. i don't know that I would do it, but hell, for all we know, the dude (or chic) that empties 'em out might be a video game junkie that lives for the moments when they get to confiscate video game tokens from the parking meter loot.

6.) Nothing wrong with drinking a beer or two to 'enhance the dining experience' for example, but going out for the sole purpose of getting toasty is questionable... (in my opinion) which is to say that I've outgrown the "i got Sooo drunk last night" stage in life.

7.) hyphens? ------ I prefer the ... ... ... ... i'm always using the ... it's like i'm obsessed with... I can't stop...
