Are you running any distributed computing software that uses free CPU cycles, such as SETI @ Home or Folding @ Home, etc.? There's nothing wrong with using them, but they will cause your CPU to always be at 100%.

Um... I'm not sure.... How do you know that you're running it? In other words, how do you check it?

To find out what consumes your CPU cycles, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Task Manager, then go to the Processes tab. From there you shoulb be able to see how much of the CPU each program running on your computer uses.

Yes, some things aren't supposed to be shut down.

What processes does your Task Manager say uses the most CPY cycles?

Um.... firefox, and msn. Wait... I'm NOT allowed to shut down things that says system or network service or local service right?

Thank you very much! That helped me!
I have a question though. If you delete/kill the program, then would be able to start it up again?
For example I deleted Itunes from the list and when I try to open it up, would it work?

should.

I have stuff blocked from autostart with another program and they run when clicked. It just keeps them from doing so on their own.

This little utility from sysinternals will let you pick and choose what should and should not be allowed to run at start-up and more. A word of warning, before disabling things make sure you know what you are doing because you can really mess your computer up with these tools. You've been warned!!
