Home Sweet Home...Again

Howdy folks! Just got home from the road. It's been going pretty well. Just trucking around. I delivered some construction equipment (skid loaders) here in Florida and then picked up a couple of Army vehicles; a Hum V and a 5 ton truck that I'll deliver in Alabama next week. For now, I'm going to drink beer and rest. :)

Let's see.... where all have I been this past couple three weeks? Wyoming, Texas (several times), Louisiana, Wisconsin (several times, terrible snow storm once), North Carolina, Georgia. Doesn't sound like much, but I made several back to back runs between WI and TX which kept me busy for a while.

I've started shopping around for a laptop for the road. I probably would have bought one already but I broke down and bought an XM satellite radio which is great. Hopefully I'll have the laptop for on the road internet within a couple more weeks.

My body is still adjusting to being back behind the wheel and the physical work involved with securing loads. Loads of aches and pains and still getting very tired far too quickly, but the body will adapt as I keep trucking around. The hip has been stiff and sore, but has only given me one real problem and that was when I absent mindedly jumped down off a trailer landing with full force on both legs. OUCH! I was limping for three days after that bone-head move.

I've run into a few trucking friends that I haven't seen in a while as well as a few bartenders I had become friendly with over the years. All in all it's been a lot of work, and a lot of fun.

Sounds like a hard haul for you over the past few weeks, but a very enjoyable and rewarding one!

Now, kick back and relax, and catch us when you can.  I just got back from a trip too, but I flew (with what my wife dragged along, it was almost as much tonnage as you! )

Thanks, MM. Rest is my top priority right now. I doubt I'll get out and about much this weekend as the Strawberry Festival is in full swing here and there are far too many extra people in town, most of whom have no idea where they are going. Bad traffic.

Yeah, it's been fun for the most part. After spending a year or so off in here in FL, I had forgotten just how cold the weather can be. After the snowstorm in WI, I was chaining down another load to TX in -31F temps (actual, not wind chill). BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

How was the trip?

That storm gave us a snow day. Yippee! But I bet it's no fun for guys like you.

Looking forward to that laptop purchase. It'll be fun to hear your tales of trucking from the road. Take care, Mason!
