Replacing some of the major races

I want to know how to replace some of the major and minor races with some of my own custom races I'm developing. What files should I be looking at? For instance, I wanna change their image and race logo. Also their tone, for instance the Thalians seem to roll the SSSS alot. And is there a way to replace the standard ships (example: Battleship design) with a custom one i made in the shipbuilder so that race would always build that ship when it wants to build a battleship? I want to do all this using the mod folder so I don't mess up the original game.

Eventually, I want to use Galciv 2 to tell a different saga.

If any moderators are out there, can you post this in the modding topic area. I've deleted my cookies and everything else i can think of. I'm using Internet Explorer also and it still post all my post in the General area without posting it in the appropriate sub topic area.

It appears in BOTH the general area and the subarea. The subareas appear to be more like a filter than an actual subforum.

You are going to want to start with Raceconfig.xml. It has the names of the logo files and portraits.

If you want to change dialog, it is found inGC2_Conversations.xml.

A modding guide is in the works. You can copy over the majors files.. other thread is here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=161573

I'm sure the text is an xml file you can take out some of the SSSss if it bothers you or re-write it.

I posted earlier that despite the fact that I changed the the Raceconfig.xml the pictures in the diplomacy screen did not change

You usually need to start a new game to get the mods to take effect. I've added a new minor race and will see if it works when I start a new game, hopefully.
