To be a gamer, you have to own games. To own games you have to buy games. And to buy games you have to go shopping. Whether you buy your games online or at the store, you're still getting that joyful feeling that you get as you peruse through the aisles(or web pages) looking at all of the games. I, like many other gamers, love that feeling. To share that magical feeling with others, I've decided to write this article about how I get my games.
About 75% of my games come from the closest computer game store, CompUSA. The local CompUSA has a huge selection of games, and they have a great bargain bin if your looking for some of the older games. They also carry everything you could possibly need for a computer, from graphics cards to mouses and joysticks, so it's very convenient. However, I do have some gripes about them. I visited the local two weeks ago to get Diablo 2. The first thing I noticed was that they had switched around their upstairs layout. For the third time. The games were at the last place I looked, and the game section was noticably smaller. The second thing I noticed was that they had started to get games packaged in smaller forms. I was pretty used to this, and I liked it because it let them put more games on the shelves. After looking over some of the newer games, I grabbed the Diablo 2 Battlechest and started to walk downstairs to the checkout lines. The Battlechest box was definately smaller than the Starcraft Battlechest I had purchased several years ago. I didn't notice what was missing until I opened it. Both the strategy guides were missing from the box. They're probably in PDF form on the CD's, but it really bothers me. The starcraft strategy guides I still have and I read them every once in a while. I'm not going to have a chance to do that with Diablo 2.
10% of my games came as presents from other people. I don't know where they got them, but it doesn't bother me.
Another 10% comes of P2P programs such as Kazaa or BitTorrents. I don't like to use these all that much, and I never use them to download newer games. I will only download using these services if I can't find the game in stores.
The last 5% comes from the internet. Games I downloaded and games that I've bought off of Amazon.com. This is a very small percentage because I like to go shopping for my games.
I'm going to end the practice of putting words I use at the end of the blog. I just can't come up with anymore! If I ever do think of words I use, I will put them at the end though.
