First, I want to congratulate Stardock for taking planets and making them more interesting than SC2. Very good! But the problem is that it takes longer to explore. Especially gem worlds when you don't have the jump module equipped. But I don't necessarily want you to change the planets. You did a good job!
So I just had an idea: customized landers!
1. We get more slots on the main ship to equip lander tech.
2. We then have to edit each of our four landers and assign some of the tech to each lander.
3. Then when we scan a planet, we could
a. pick our 100% fire with jump module to land on a gem world...
b. and die horribly because we forgot about toxicity!
c. Then land again with our 100% toxicity + jump and run around and scoop everything up.
d. grumble and fly back to a starbase to buy a new lander and configure it.
e. or reload from a save instead, but that's cheating... nobody would do that, right? heh.
Right now, I have a ship with several unequipped modules of lander tech. I don't sell them because they're useful for certain worlds. But I don't have them equipped because my standard loadout is too inefficient when I add that tech in. So when I run into a world I want to explore that doesn't fit my standard loadout, I tell myself I will come back to it later...and then don't because I forget or because I decide it's too much work to go back after visiting a starbase.
We could even maybe add some tech? For gem worlds without robots, I'd love to land an anti-grav lander with extended grab range. I could explore the pretty world without getting angry that I landed in yet another trench for the 6th time in a single minute.
