Which platform to buy SC reboot on? Xbox 1 or PS4?

Frog responded in a thread for me, that the Star Control reboot will eventually be on the Xbox one and later the PS4.

Here's my question...

Which platform would SC be better on?

I've never played the ps4 and only the Xbox 1 once.

I'm more familiar with the PS franchise owning a ps2 and stopping there.

But the Xbox is owned by Microsoft.

Would SC reboot be better on Xbox or will it not matter?

and yes, I will be buying a $300-$400 dollar system because Star Control is coming out again. That's how big a fan I am of the SC series.

Any help and experience from you guys on this, would be appreciative to me.

any differences from the game on either system from the founders/creators would be awesome as well.

Ehm, i don't really expect the minimum (or even max)specs to run the new SC to be too high, so unless you don't already own a PC i see no reason to invest in a console just for SC.

Having said that, i'd still like to answer your question. Since gaming has been my biggest hobby since i was about 7, i consider myself a gamer and have a gaming PC, Xbox one, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Please note that this is all just my opinion of course.

Firstly, my recommendation is get a PS4.

PS4 has slightly better specs, and this is noticable in multiplatform titles. Most tend to run a bit better on PS4.

I find the PS4 user interface straightforward and easier to navigate than the Xbox one user interface. The Xbox one has a horrible user inteface based on the same tiles most people hated in windows 8, and i have no idea who came up with the bright idea that the settings of the console could only be reached by downloading a settings app and pinning that to the home screen.

I have heard the settings thing at least has changed recently, but i haven't booted up my Xbox one in ages (which is also a telltale sign as to my opinion which console to invest in)

PS4 user interface has been called "outdated" but if that means easy to understand and navigate then give me outdated over modern any day.

Both Xbox live and PSN are prone to outages, i have noticed it more on PSN but believe that's simply because i play more on my PS4.

Saved the most important thing for last though.

Most important in the choice for either console is: do you have friends who already own one or the other? If all your friends are on Xbox one, me recommending you to get a PS4 doesn't mean anything if you want to play the new SC's Super Melee with friends who all have an Xbox one (unless they incorporate cross-platform play but i don't see that happening).

Yes i like the PS4 better but the main reason i haven't touched my Xbox one in ages is that all my friends have PS4 and i play Helldivers, GTA Online, Destiny, etc. with them. If they all had an Xbox instead i'm sure i'd use it most despite me liking the PS4 better.
