So I started up my first ridiculous game last night - custom death/fire warlock, custom Empire (Binding/Decalon, because I REALLY REALLY like free units from shards. Incidentally, I'd love to see Binding produce units from Life Shards, if I make a Kingdom).
I picked the Wildlands DLC map, which sounded like a great challenge and is big. I like room to explore!
Founded my capitol next to a Wildland and started hunting down shards. I found that the Wildland was the "capture the Darkling city" one, and decided that was awesome, since it would be easier to conquer early on than having to defeat one of those big bosses!
Finally got plenty of spell damage going on my sov, with a couple of Crow Demons using titan's breath to hold back the mobs. I got to the center of the Wildland and took the Darkling City (Deoncysse or something like that?) - hooray! It was undefended(?) and a level 19 city(?). The pop-up message said: "You have captured Deoncysse string not found!"
Pretty geeked, tell you what. However, the Wildland was not cleared. I could build in the city, and it was connected by road to my other cities because of Trading tech. But couldn't place any arcane monoliths to pick up the shards around. Also, I didn't seem to get any movement benefit from that road, maybe because it was in "enemy territory"? Sad.
I had heard that sometimes the Wildlands don't clear for various reasons, figured that maybe I needed to kill all the other critters in the Wildland and it would clear. Started wandering around, and a sneaky Timber Warg pounced on the undefended city. Deoncysse was lost! The message: "The Wildlands have conquered Deoncysse string not found!" Except the city was still there. I ran my sov back and tried to enter, but couldn't enter the city - group got stuck running in place on the tile outside the city. Maybe it's just a graphical glitch, and the city WAS razed, just not visually.
It was a fun game anyway... please fix!
On a personal note: I work at MSU's National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, just up the road from Stardock. If Brad or Derek or any of you ever want a tour, just ask! I'd be honored to host you - my way of saying thanks for a fabulous game.
