We're in the same boat....chronic insomnia is the worst thing ever.
Tell me about it. I've suffered with insomnia for almost 30 years now.... and the older I get the more debilitating it becomes. As a young bloke I could cope with it a lot better - like put in a 10 -12 hour day at work after half an hour or so snooze - but now I'm approaching 60 it takes all day to become functional if I manage to doze off for a while.
I could tell a few jokes. That's sure to put you to sleep...
If only, if only! If I thought for one moment that a few jokes could put me to sleep... I'd insist that you told me ALL your worst.
This boat is getting full!
Yup, it sure is!!! In fact, being that I've gained weight in me old age, an' have a bugger of a time shedding tha extra pounds, maybe us oughter transfer to tha Twisted Sister. She be out o' dry dock n' ready fer tha 'igh seas.
True....especially if pain is causing it.
If only it were the pain alone. For me it's a combination of anxiety issues and depression as well. A few years ago I took part in a sleep study thing to see if they could get to the bottom of it. Yeah, right!!! They hooked me up to all these monitors and sedated me... when I woke up they told me that my brain activity while asleep is greater than most people when they're wide awake. And I dream stuff... often disturbing stuff that comes true later on down the track. Yeah, I know, nobody believes it... but I'm the one living with the curse and I really don't care if anyone believes it or not.

That's about the strength of it. I Need Sleep Or My Noggin Implodes Awfully.
