and I have already watched all of BSG, liked season 1 and 2, season 3 and most of 4 was lame however.

Back in '04, Sci-Fi put out some buzz about a possible Ringworld miniseries, but I haven't seen anything happen in that regard. It would be awesome if they could do a treatment of the full four Ringworld volumes that was as good as what John Harrison did with the original Dune trilogy.

They are apparently doing something to try to make up for the travesty of a pilot for a Riverworld series that aired back in '01, but even with Tahmoh Penikett in the cast, I'm pretty sure it will end up mediocre at beast on account of them being afraid of using one of the key strengths of the series, real, controversial historical figures resurrected into a science fiction afterlife.

It's actually two miniseries that cover the three original books. You can rent it from Netflix. William Hurt plays Duke Leto, lots of other good casting, overall far superior to David Lynch's 1984 film.

As long as Whedon was calling the shots for it, heck yeah.  I think you'd have a hard time replacing that cast though.

I know this thread was technically necroed, but yes, I'd watch.  Serenity's kill-off of the pilot (I forget his name too...) was JUST enough to justify a few major changes to the series, while keeping it the Firefly we all loved.

The two Dune miniseries I'm talking about are from 2000 and 2003. As far as I know, no one has released a theatrical film version of Dune Messiah or Children of Dune, but I'd love to find something that still isn't mentioned in the wikipedia. Any chance you remember a director or actor's name?

I'd rather see Joss live a long and ridiculously overcompensated life so he can 'start again' when the original acting ensemble are all old enough that re-casting them is a patently silly idea. But that's mostly because the chance of reassembling that ensemble seems vanishingly small. "Some tv or movie exec" would not do, but if Joss could pull both financing and casting rabbits out of his hat...shiny indeed.

I've seen that one a few times. The cast is generally impressive, the effects were solid for the '80s, and I really liked the sets and costumes. But Lynch's version of the Harkonnens are a pathetic charicature made campy by casting Sting as Feyd. The miniseries takes liberties with the story from the novel also, but I like it much better.

firefly was dull, had worse storylines then BSG, and stargate was better. i hope the fire in the fly has burnt out.
