I see two possibilities here and it could be either or both.

Some people now say "gay" not really meaning as an orientation but more a general insult like weak or moron. Most of them probably never had a kiss in their life from anyone and they probably just copy the stuff their dads say when their dads are on WoW. The opinion of idiots shouldn't matter to you. I know it can be hard to stay calm but remember in 10 or 15 years they will be sleeping on their mom's couches still wondering why women don't like them. Trust me on that. 99% of us don't like them. Any woman that likes guys that act like that is not picky.

Careful about telling them you are a little bi though because think about this second possibility. These are groups of guys hanging out trying to prove how macho and straight they are, right? Being jerks to girls, accusing other guys. My guess is at least some of them are in serious denial and are bi or gay, but unlike you, they haven't been able to handle even thinking about it. You're probably good looking or something so you're getting that terror response. "Good looking guy...he has to be gay! Because I am CERTAINLY NOT gay, not me, NO. He said hi so he must be coming onto me because um well not because I am hoping he is. NO. Because he is GAY, that's why!" Bet there is some of that going on, too.

What it gets down to is sexual insecurity. Pity the losers and don't let them get to you. There is nothing wrong with you. You're comfortable with who you are. They obviously aren't. If you don't mind taking the small risk of a fight breaking out in CVS, just tell them "Sorry, you're just not my type" and laugh. See if they get nervous trying to figure out if you're straight and know their secret or if a gay guy just said they were dog ugly. I bet they get nervous either way.

So I'm supposed to hide from reality because of other people hiding from their own reality?

And yes, I'm gonna defend a lady, sorry to say. People gave the same type of crap when my mom lived with my dad, and all he did was physically abuse us.

It's an ugly world. Get thicker skin. You are the one that needs to change because nothing else is going to change.

It starts with us parents. If you raise your children to respect people, they will have a better chance of turning into good adults. Spend time with them, get involved in what they are involved in...know what they are doing.

Asshole adults that are out there right now are lost causes and are breeding a generation of asshole children. That's reality folks. So if you have kids, and you find yourself asking the question "What the hell is wrong with people today?" Take a look at yourself first and ask, "Am I a good person?"

I live in Florida. I am NOT a redneck or bigot. With these statements you are making yourself as bad as the people you are bitching about. See we ALL have our flaws. That being said, I agree with your stance against idiots. Be yourself and keep this thought. Maybe the people that do this to you are a little unsure of their own sexuality and over compensate around their friends to cover it up. Anyway, who cares what others think. You have to love yourself first.
