I played about 20 hours in SoaSE, and I have to say that the game is great! The only thing that spoils the pleasure of playing it is a question: how the hell ships BURN IN SPACE??? It looks absolutely unrealistic and dum:(( Maybe it will be changed in new patch? I registered to write this...

On-topic, I seem to have downloaded that 1.041 hotfix yesterday. Did I miss the official announcement?

I only noticed because I happened to be on Stardock Central, and it told me I needed to update to v1.04...something, so I did.

The game, however, still says v1.04, I don't see any new release notes, and checking SC, I see a v1.04.022 with a release date of 04/10, so my guess is that yesterday SC just mistakenly thought I needed to update, when there wasn't really anything new.

Yes. In fact, pretty much everyone does. We don't play the games for the epitome of realism, we play them because they're fun and pretty to look at. But hey - why is there sound in space? Why do you hear missiles, beams, autocannons? It should just be mute too, otherwise it would be a game for 8-11 year olds!

From what I've read so far, this game suits your age range!

I'll give you a small list of 'unrealistic' things before I brush my teeth and go to bed:

1) Sound cannot travel in vacuum. This game should have absolutely no sound other than those people talking over a radio, and the music.
2) Did you happen to look at how the planets are arranged around the sun, not to mention how many there are?
3) Planets are static. I feel the need to explain this to you further: the planets do not revolve around the sun like real planets do.
4) There is no such thing as a phase jump. Again, I feel the need to explain this to you: I am not saying it is not possible, I am saying it does not exist in reality yet so therefore it is unrealistic.
5) Weaponized lasers are not realistic (for the same reason stated in number 4).
6) Force shields are not realistic, again for the same reason. Scratch that, every unit in the game is not realistic.
7) Real planets are not that close to each other.
8) One cannot simply colonise a planet in a minute after dropping a hundred nuclear bombs all over it. Heck, nobody can colonise planets that easily and as fast.
9) I'm probably one of the few who noticed the quirks of visiting distant planets that support life: diseases. Micro-organisms will 'pwn' your butt eventually as soon as you set foot on their soil and breathe their air. The only movie that got this right is War of the Worlds, as crap a movie as it is.
10) I have not tried jumping from a star to another yet, but based on the distance between planets, I dare say real stars are much farther apart than it is in the game.

You are a little bit slow as I can see, I answered that already.

Have you ever heard about STRATEGY GAMES? Or the only thing you have seen before was toys in the box with "for little idiots" sign?

I'm not doublestabdarting. There is the difference between what you see and what you hear. Also you can switch off the sound in the game.

Actually in the video ther are mostly explosions and scorching metal. Thera are no such flames of fire

Like I said, thats exactly what I do. Also I said that there is difference between what you see and what you hear. You can't disagree, that sound is much less important than picture. And sound can be explained (I wrote earlier about it). And the most important is that sound makes the game cool, and flames are just stupid;)

When you see your fleet it looks just perfect, space is perfect, stars and planets are almost perfect. The only thing that ruins everything on the screen-space fire;)
