There have been a lot of PC developers that consistently make good games. But, generally, there's usually one game in a developers history I just don't like. Bungie. I loved Marathon, Myth, and Oni. But, I don't like Halo. Blizzard, I loved Starcraft and Warcraft. But, I don't like Diablo. Epic. I love UT, but, I don't like Unreal. id. I loved Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein. But, I don't like Doom 3. Point is with most developers, there's usually one game I just don't like, with this exception of one developer.
Raven. It's insanely eerie. It's like these guys read my mind for every title they produce. I have yet to see them make a game that isn't great. Even a game that's only good would make me feel comfortable. It's like they are wielding supernatural game making powers from an unholy source. These guys must have really worked out a good deal with the devil. Because generally, PC developers have a rough time making console games. So, I expected X-Men Legends to be there first sub-great game and I was joyfully disappointed. Raven has done it yet again.
This game is amazing. It combines all the great stuff from the old school four player arcade X-Man game with tons of new stuff. And it does it without making the game more complex. So the gameplay works out to be fast and simple while upgrades, items and power-ups provide a nice addition that doesn’t get in the way of the overall old school feel of the game. And the graphics are great on the PS2 and XBOX versions. For some of the special effects, I forgot I wasn’t playing on a PC. But, just for a quick second.
Anyways, if you’re a Raven fan, or an X-Men fan, you really need to try out this game.
