Hm, the mod is cool and all, but how am I supposed to design a ship or use the templates? There are no available ship designs, but when I click to use a template, the game CTD. I was checking this out in a game and I found that while the computer could create new ships just fine, I couldn't create any new ships for lack of a design. Also, when the computer attacked one of my ships, the game also crashed.

We put a fix out already, its pretty small download. Can be found on our download section.

go ahead and create your own:

C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\Mods

You just have to go into the GalCiv2\DarkAvatar folder and create a new folder called "Mods" and put your folder in that. Then start up DA, go into options and select "use mods" and switch over the location it looks into, you may have to restart the game two or three times to switch over all the settings (first time you switch on use mods, and go to switch to the Star Trek mod, I do not think it shows up, but once you restart the game it will, so at that point you can choose to select the mod and restart one more time to make it take effect)

Did you delete the raceconfig files and start a new game? I know for a fact the fix will make it work as long as you do that.

Unexpected end of archive

Im getting this at the end of the installer. Ive tried everything I can think of to fix it but its still giving me this message. Can anyone help me out?

Yeah, one of the files probably ended prematurely. That happened to me while downloading numbers 5 and 6, so I had to re-download those before it would run. To check whether they were complete or not though, I just double-clicked on the files in question and they would give me the 'Unexpected end of archive' message if they were the offending file.

I am having difficulty getting the mod to work as well. I have downloaded all the files, including the fix from your website. But I still am unalbe to design ships in the ship creator, and am therefore unalbe to build any ships. I deleted most of the raceconfig files, however, I have encountered problems when deleting some of them as the program tends to crash after the intro.

I put the files in the correct place, I have tired to post this on your forum but I have yet to get the account activated, and I am now having trouble accessing your forums. More specifically the thread about the problem, as it asks me to log in.

Hmm, it seems that no matter how many times I download the mod, some files in each section are corrupt. Thank the heavens for my highspeed internet, as I downloaded each section of the DA mod 5 or 6 times each, and the only "clean" download I recieved was from part 1. The corrupted files (I believe) are the same each time as well.


I'm using 7z to unzip them, and have never had any previous problems with that program (it works fantastically for everything I've ever used it for.)I can isolate the corrupted files, but can't extract them properly. If it's needed I can re-download the different sections of the mod and list which files I can't extract.


I loved v3 for DL and would like to play around with the v4 DA version as well. Has anyone had a similiar problem to mine? Or an idea on what settings I might have somewhere that would interfere with the process? Thanks in advance.


I really do love this mod and I'm amazed at all the spectacular work that has gone into it. Ya'll (I'm from Texas) have done an great job at putting this together. I hope I get v4 up and running soon.

-For clarity I'm attempting to download the Dark Avatar v4 Beta in the 7 part download sections, and the only part that doesn't show corrupted files is part 1, but I don't know how effectively I can scan an .exe for similiar corruption.

Just a heads up - I don't have forum access otherwise I would post this on your forums - the game crashes every time I go into a United Planets meeting. I have the mod installed properly without corrupted files and got the ship fix working and everything. But this keeps happening with United Planets every time.

The downloads are downloading properly, and not ending prematurely. They just have corrupted files when I scan and try to extract them.

I'll post my bug (or personal problem) on the ST forum. I believe I registered awhile ago, so I should still have an account.
